Despicable Me 3 sees Illumination's flagship franchise continue its journey with a mix of familiar charm and an ambition that sometimes feels a tad overstuffed. The antagonist, Balthazar Bratt, a forgotten 80s child star voiced by Trey Parker, is a standout with his unique design, signature soundtrack, and nostalgic 80s pop culture references, making him a memorable foil. However, the narrative focus occasionally disperses across too many secondary characters and subplots, particularly the Minions' segments, which, while entertaining, often feel disconnected and somewhat repetitive. The animation quality remains top-tier, vibrant and visually engaging. While 'Despicable Me 3' delivers on lighthearted entertainment, it leans heavily on the established appeal of its characters and comedic elements, feeling more like a safe, if enjoyable, continuation rather than a groundbreaking emotional step forward for the franchise.
